While repairing the solar thermal system on a client’s roof, Studio Piccolli noticed the shiny thin folded metal skins that lay under the vacuum tubes and reflect the sun’s lost rays back into the tubes.

Fascinated by its lightness, shape and mirrored surface, they started playing with it, outside its intended context. Having a penchant for experimenting with
electrical circuits and lights, they soon interpreted the thin metal sheet as a lampshade. Reflecting light on its back, mirroring and distorting the space on the front. Held to the wall by three delicate 3D-printed brackets, gently spreading its dimmable light across the surface of the wall and fading into shadow.
