L23 Wednesdays is a series of weekly public events taking place throughout the Summer of 2020 in the context of the temporary occupation of a building in Zurich’s city centre. The program is devised by a group of artists and creatives taking part in an ephemeral residency project initiated by Giovanna Lisignoli and Simon W Marin in the same building with the intent of providing a group of professionals from the cultural field with free working spaces. Starting on July 1st, the events take place every Wednesday evening and culminate on August 19 with the opening of an exhibition, including works by the residents and guests, as well as interventions by external contributors.

SEPTEMBER

A performance hosted by tracy september in collaboration with Kamran Behrouz

Musician and performer tracy september collaborates with visual artist Kamran Behrouz on this hybrid narrative musical performance. The performance is built around photographs tracy selected from her late grandparents’ archive and texts written by her grandmother depicting very particular moments in South African history. SEPTEMBER takes archival fact and muddies it to audio-visually explore issues of identity, displacement, love and resilience. Still in it’s developmental stage, the duo are using the opportunity of the L23 residency to explore and present the work to an audience.

Before and after the performance there will be DJ sets by composer, musician and Black Pitch band member SIANUR.

EARLY-STAGE SHARING

Nina Emge invites musician and artist Pablo Lienhard to present his new project NO_INPUT_sequencing in the context of L23 Wednesdays. The sonic performance revolves around site specific listening stations that integrate the characteristics of the former logistic space in the sonic experience.

Additionally, Nina Emge and Natania Prezant invite you to explore the relationship between Food - Neophytes - Invasion - Diaspora - Rhythm - Cycles - Sounds - Repetition in an early-stage sharing.

In what ways are cross-continental movements of seeds, human lives and embodied knowledge related?
